Dr. John Maerz received the 2010 Excellence in Undergraduate Research Mentoring Faculty Award from the University of Georgia’s Honors Program and Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities. The award recognizes early career faculty who have demonstrated depth and breadth in their efforts to create and support research opportunities for undergraduates. The selection committee noted Dr. Maerz’s record of sustained contact with students, and the comments of faculty and students in letters of support. Dr. Maerz will receive his award at the CURO Symposium on March 29, and be recognized at the Honors Day ceremonies and the 2010 Faculty Recognition Banquet.
