Today we learned that Theresa Stratmann will receive both the 2012 Udall and Goldwater Scholarships. These are two very prestigious awards. Udall Scholarships are awarded on a national competitive basis to students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to the environment including policy, engineering, science, education, urban planning and renewal, business, health, justice, economics, and other related fields. The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship was established by Congress in 1986 to honor Senator Barry M. Goldwater with the purpose of providing a continuing source of highly qualified scientists, mathematicians, and engineers by awarding scholarships to college students who intend to pursue careers in these fields. We can think of no more deserving student of these awards.
