Why turtles?

I finally started working on turtles in 2007 thanks to my former student, Andrew Grosse, and most of what I know and appreciate about turtles, I learned from my former graduate student, Dr. Sean Sterrett. What I write here I attribute to them.

Turtles are evolutionary and ecological phenomenon unparalleled among vertebrates.
